This collar comes with a rechargeable battery and a "smart charger". The smart charger has a lighted led that turns from orange to green to tell you when the battery is fully charged. It will also go into a standby mode if left on the charger so that the battery is not damaged. Charging time is 3 hours. The rechargeable battery will give you over 500 recharges before it needs replacing. It will give you an average of 60 days or 2 months of hunting on one charge.  In the event that your rechargeable battery goes dead, you can keep a spare disposable battery on hand and install it to keep hunting.

The QTXD collar is powered by a 123 a lithium battery. Replacement batteries can be found in drug stores or Wal-mart. A battery will give you over 700 hours of use. That means if you hunt 8 hours a day every day, the battery will last you 3 months. If you hunt 8 hours a day every other day, the battery will last for 6 months. Then you simply change the battery and you're ready to go hunting. Range on this collar is 5 to 7 miles and it carries a one year warranty.  If you decide you want to change to rechargeable batteries, no problem, you simply buy a smart charger for $15.00 & a battery for $10.00 and go hunting. You can also keep a spare disposable battery on hand. And if your rechargeable should go dead, simply install the disposable battery and you're ready to hunt.
